Climate
Climate in the city of Pompeii is well known as subtropical temperatures. The average temperature is around 15-20 degrees celsius. The summers in Pompeii can become sweltering hot and humid with temperatures rising to around 26 degrees. However the skies are always clear and sunny. The heat is complimented with a slight ocean breeze, coming from the inland of Pompeii. Although the summer is blazing hot in the city, it is certainly the best time to go and visit the area. In Autumn time, you start to see less of the sun during the day. On average the sun comes out every day for the whole day in summer time. In autumn, the sun only comes out for approximately 6 hours each day.This season starts in October and moves on until November.Temperatures in the afternoon start at around 21 degrees and drops down to around 17 degrees. Night times get a little bit cooler and sometimes brings rainfall to the city. In the month of December, the temperatures in Pompeii drop incredibly. Mild winter does not go below 14 degrees yet is still quite cold. The rainy days decrease in the winter, and the sun only comes out for 3 hours a day. In the later winter days, night time temperatures can drop down to 4 degrees celsius and negative which sometimes brings on snow and frost. The breeze from the Mediterranean Sea blows into Pompeii making the air extremely cold. The final few days of winter start becoming warmer and the city starts getting ready for spring. Finally, spring in Pompeii starts to become much warmer and sunnier compared to the temperatures in winter. Temperatures rise from 13 degrees to 15 degrees celsius. The amount of rain lessens in spring time, and the afternoons in the city become more refreshing. Although the temperatures become warmer, the air can rise up and drop down to climates that was not expected. |
